At the end of this week the final tearoom of Kilmodan Primary School’s exhibition of work inspired by Robert Stewart’s ceramic installation at the school takes place.
From 11am in the morning on Friday, October 4th, visitors are welcome to come to the tearoom / art exhibit at Kilmodan Primary School in the Clachan of Glendaruel to drink tea*, view art and, possibly, to take part in arts-based workshops run by the school’s pupils.
Over the last 7 weeks fine art curator and educator Ros McKenna has been conducting a series of workshops with the pupils based on the art of Robert Stewart, and in particular the spectacular ceramic tile artwork the artist donated to the school in 1978 as a celebration of the new permises.
The pupils at the school have produced over 100 separate pieces and these have been worked into an exhibition which centres around and focusses on Stewart’s original work.
This exhibition was included in the Cowal Open Studios programme last week, and will be recorded on one of the school’s other new projects, the Glen of the Red River website, which is available here.
* Coffee and Cake is also served!
